I’ve been working on a film collaboration with Aaron Cooper and his tutor Heledd Wyn Hardy from the Faculty of Creative Industries at ATRiuM (Course Leader, Bilingual Media Production) at the University of South Wales. It’s about a deserted chapel near Cardigan in the village of Cippyn; it now sits in a remote spot, a quarter of a mile from the main road, hidden away on a solitary footpath leading towards the sea. We shot the film itself last January and since then I have added an electronically generated sound-track with sounds manipulated from natural sounds recorded at the chapel. The work was presented as an installation on 4 March in the theatre at ATRiuM, Cardiff into which an audience of about 60 visitors wandered, looking at the beautiful texture and images that Arron has captured and put together. I’ve also composed a score for solo double bass that Ashley John Long played live at the event. We’re now going to record the soundtrack and add it to the film during April. You should be able to see it online soon – watch this space.
